Should we all be on HRT?

It is great that there has been so much more information and discussion recently about the menopause. These really are conversations that we need to keep having.

HRT has been in the news recently, with suggestions that we should all be on it as soon as we hit our mid forties; but like with most things in my experience there isn’t an easy, one-size-fits-all answer.

Maybe you have tried HRT but found you didn’t get on with it.

Maybe you haven’t felt like you could get the help and information you needed, or perhaps you found that your GP wasn’t as knowledgeable, supportive and helpful as you would have liked.

Perhaps you’re still uncertain about the pros and cons of medication for what is, after all, a natural process of moving from one stage of life to another, just as we all did through puberty.

It is a very personal decision, that has to take into account your medical history, your symptoms and beliefs around health and medication.

Help with Anxiety, Phobias and Trauma

Exciting news!

Having helped people overcome phobias, anxiety and past trauma for many years, I am soon adding a new way of working to provide effective and lasting relief from old habits and ways of behaving.

I will shortly be releasing a number of slots at The Treatment Space in Bamford for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) sessions.

For many of us, it’s actually not that clear. Honestly, I sometimes forget I’m now fully in my midlife, no getting away from that fact. Inside I often still feel like that crazy, full of life 17 year old who was living life to the fullest; immature, irresponsible, uncertain — but having lots of fun along the way!

So when I started feeling a bit out of sorts in my mid forties*, that it might be related to the perimenopause wasn’t the first thing that occurred to me at all.

I speak to so many women who have reached that age and are feeling out of sorts too — but also don’t make that link to the perimenopause possibly being the cause.

Once women recognise what is going on and get some support and help, it is very common to realise it has actually been going on for years. I can’t tell you how many women have said to me, ‘If only I’d realised, I would have done something earlier!’

The menopause!!!

Have you noticed any changes in yourself? Perhaps your loved ones are telling you that you are more ratty and irritable these days? Have you found yourself tearing up or bursting into tears at work? Maybe you haven’t been able to work out why you’re feeling like this, why you’re not getting on with your partner, why you’re feeling anxious and like you have lost confidence.
